Off to uni or college?

There's so many things to think about heading off to uni for the first time. You are definitely not thinking about health care, more the whole moving, meeting people and getting used to uni life sort of thing

Fight for now

Sadly, uni students are an 'at risk' group for meningitis, so it's definitely worth thinking about!

Meningitis can affect anyone at any time, but certain bacteria can increase the risk in teenagers and students, so it is obviously best to be aware of what to look out for.

We have put a bunch of information and downloadables together, and also info on how to take advantage of the ACWY vaccination that could protect against these strains of meningitis.

Meningitis can look like flu or a hangover, which makes it difficult to spot, so it is really important to know what signs and symptoms to look out for. At its worst it can kill, or cause life changing after effects.

Meningitis Awareness Recognition Mark (MARM)

Is your uni meningitis-aware? Every university could experience at least one case of meningitis or meningococcal disease (meningitis and septicaemia) amongst its students within the first term, but unis carrying the Meningitis Awareness Recognition Mark have committed to raising awareness, promoting vaccine uptake and planning ahead to help lower the risks.
