Meningitis Now Research Forum 2015

On May 6 at RCPCH in London we held our first research forum, including debate and discussion on the latest issues in meningitis research

At Meningitis Now we are proud to be funding cutting edge research projects across the UK working towards the ultimate aim of eradicating meningitis and related septicaemia.

This forum showcased state of the art research funded by Meningitis Now and other organisations and delivered lively discussion and debate on the issues raised. The programme included:

  • From carriage to invasion to prevention – meningococcal and pneumococcal genomics
  • Neonatal meningitis – E.coli meningitis, group B streptococcal disease surveillance, and attitudes to vaccination
  • The future of meningococcal group B disease – the need for continued research, carriage studies, cost effective analysis, and herd protection

Speakers included Dr Mary Ramsay, Professor Ray Borrow, Professor Paul Heath, Professor Peter Taylor, Dr Jay Lucidarme, Dr Hannah Christensen, and Dr Alex McCarthy.
