Believe and Achieve weekends 2017

Free action and fun packed weekends for young people affected by meningitis

Believe and Achieve

We’re excited to share details of our second Believe and Achieve weekend of 2017 – a popular action packed event for young people aged 11-18 years old who have had meningitis and meningococcal disease.

Taking place at PGL centre, Boreatton Park, Shropshire, our Believe and Achieve weekends give young people the opportunity to try adrenaline filled, challenging activities, meet others affected by meningitis and make new friends.

It was a good weekend. I learnt so much and had so much fun at the same time. The tasks were challenging but I was proud to complete them. The best part of the weekend was meeting other young people who understand the impact of meningitis.
New for 2017

Based on feedback from previous participants and thanks to the continued generous support of BBC Children in Need, we are delighted to be able to offer these free to attend events as a three day/2 night package. Arriving late Friday afternoon, refreshments, meals, all activities and Friday and Saturday night accommodation is included; those attending only need to cover the cost of their own travel to their chosen venue. The weekend will conclude early afternoon on the Sunday.

Where and When

PGL centres provide a huge range of activities open to all ability and experience levels. Qualified PGL staff will lead all activities such as high ropes challenges, Jacobs Ladder, abseiling, trapeze, raft building and zip wire to name a few! The centres also have excellent accommodation and catering facilities.

Who

These events are aimed at young people aged 11-18 who have had meningitis or meningococcal disease at some point in their lives. All ability and experience levels are welcome. Each young person should be accompanied by one parent or carer. Parents and carers can spend the weekend meeting other parents, and have the option to join in with all the activities.

Thank you so much for a fantastic weekend. It was lovely to see my daughter have fun and achieve something she thought she couldn't do. We really enjoyed meeting so many other families who have had similar experiences to us; it makes you feel like you are not alone.
