There are lots of ways you can raise money for us. Here are some of our top tips to make sure your Five Valleys fundraising is a success:
Start your fundraising now. The sooner you start, the more time you have to raise as much as possible. Setting up a JustGiving page is a quick and easy way to kick-start your fundraising – you don’t have to worry about paperwork and the money comes directly to us. set up your JustGiving page.
Share your story. Let people know why you’re fundraising for Meningitis Now. Sharing your story will help your supporters understand why it’s important they get involved.
Collect funds as you go. Collect as much sponsorship as you can beforehand to avoid chasing people later when they have forgotten their pledge to you.
If you don’t ask, you won’t get. Most people will give to charity, but very few will give without being prompted - don’t feel guilty about asking.
Start each sponsorship sheet with a pledge. For example, £1 per mile. This will set the level of giving for everyone else to follow.
Matched Giving. Ask the company you work for if they run a matched giving scheme?
Keep everyone up to date. Ensure you keep supporters up to date with your fundraising total and any activities you have planned. Keep them interested and they will be more likely to help you again.
Be creative. Stand out from the crowd and complete the event in fancy dress. Or, instead of walking, you could skip, hop or hula hoop.
Four-legged friends. Bring your dogs along on the day and get them sponsored too.
Go orange. Have a Meningitis Now makeover and complete the event dressed in orange.
Social media. Spread the word online through Facebook and Twitter to reach more potential sponsors.
Cameras at the ready. Your pictures and stories help us inspire others. Take lots of pictures and send them to us after the event.
Tell us about it. We love to hear what you’re planning and we can provide additional materials to help make your event a success.
Have fun! You have worked hard, so make sure you enjoy yourself. The more fun you have, the more funds you’ll raise.
Thank everyone. Let your supporters know how much they have helped you raise and the huge difference this will make to people across the UK affected by meningitis.
