We’ve teamed up with the creators of the 5k lockdown challenge, Run For Heroes, to bring you #5kMay, and are inviting our supporters to join us for the challenge
Taking part is easy – all you need to do is run, roll, walk, cycle, hop or swim (socially distanced of course) 5k during May, donate £5 towards our lifesaving and life-changing work and then nominate five friends or family members to take part too.
Why not get involved as a team and mobilise your school, colleagues or sports club? It’s the perfect opportunity to (virtually) get a group together and encourage them to take part.
Small actions; big impact
Leah Wynn, our Fundraising Officer, said, “If the pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that the smallest things can have the biggest impact, and there’s no better example of this than Run for Heroes.
“What started as a plan to raise £5,000 for NHS charities at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic became a major fitness motivation and fundraising tool for more than a million people and raised over £7 million in the process.
Welcome to our team
“Well, now its back and everybody can join in and support a cause close to their hearts. We look forward to welcoming you to our Team Tangerine.
“As the name suggests Run for Heroes is all about getting fit and hitting that 5k target. All that matters is getting your body moving and raising vital funds for the charity of your choosing.”
And with famous faces like Mo Farah, Ellie Goulding and even Prime Minister Boris Johnson backing previous Run for Heroes challenges, you may even spot a celebrity or two while out on your 5kMay journey!
You can find out more and sign up for the event at www.runforheroes.org.uk/sign-up.
