They weren’t exploring a possible relocation from our Stroud HQ, but on a mission to say a huge thank you to the Rightmove team for their incredible support for us and our work whilst we were the company’s charity of the year.
Whilst there Steve, Sarah and Matt were delighted to collect a cheque for an amazing £70,000 – thank you so much.
In exchange Matt was happy to share some cakes, gratefully baked by our expert in-house bakers as a gesture of appreciation for all that Rightmove staff have done to support our lifesaving and life-changing work.
As well as meeting members of staff who have fundraised for us, with many taking part in the Milton Keynes Half Marathon, which Rightmove sponsors, Steve also spoke to them about his experience setting up the charity and his son Spencer, raising awareness with those who might not know much about the disease.
He was joined by Phil Bates of Rightmove, whose family experience of meningitis is the reason we were chosen as the company’s Charity of the Year.
Phil and his wife Anne-Marie lost their 8-month-old son Joshua to meningitis in December 2016 and Rightmove immediately pledged their support for our fight. During the time that followed we’ve supported the family.
Steve said, “We really appreciate all the support from Rightmove, choosing us as their Charity of the Year. It’s good to have the opportunity to call in and thank them personally for everything they’ve done."
“And attending the Milton Keynes Marathon also gave us an invaluable opportunity to raise awareness of the symptoms of meningitis and the work of the charity.”
