It’s been more than 17 years since Lucy Hancock from Bridgend tragically lost her 16-year-old sister Amy to meningococcal meningitis
“My sister died at the age of 16 from meningitis after displaying symptoms of cold and flu. It was a very short illness and a huge shock to the entire family. I don’t think it will ever be something that any of my family will get over."
“In March 2016 I took part in the Cardiff Half Marathon to raise awareness in what would have been the month of her 30th birthday. I have run the Cardiff Half ever since and will be again this year. I took up running in October 2015 and my twin sister signed me up for the Cardiff Half Marathon in the March after I said I was thinking about doing it. Knowing that I was running in Amy’s memory kept me training and I did it!"
“My plan is to run Cardiff Half Marathon for as long as I am able to in her memory.”
