An awesome aerial adventure

Take on an adventure with altitude to raise lifesaving funds for us

Zip Slide Newcastle fundraising event blog

We’re hoping to see fundraising soar as we invite adrenaline junkies from across the north to zip zip away in a zip slide challenge on Sunday 14 April from the Tyne Bridge in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Elaine Close, our north-west Community Fundraiser, said, “Zip lining over the Tyne will be such a unique and adrenaline fuelled experience."

“It’s a great opportunity for the daredevils amongst you to do something that will make a huge difference to the thousands of families affected by meningitis every year."

Shout from the rooftops

“Every penny raised really does support our work fighting back against this disease, so shout about your challenge from the rooftops to raise all you can.”

Starting 35 metres above the Newcastle quayside, those taking part in the exhilarating 270 metre long ride will enjoy fantastic views of both sides of the river – if they can keep their eyes open!

Registration for the event is now open. Places cost £43 per person and the charity is asking participants to raise £50 minimum sponsorship to go towards its lifesaving and life-changing research, awareness and support work for people affected by the devastating disease.

Sarah Lockey, our north-east Community Fundraiser, added, “As a charity that receives no Government funding we rely on the energy, initiative and enthusiasm of our supporters to continue our vital work."

“For the many people who have been and continue to be affected by meningitis and for those who will sadly be affected in the future, this zip line challenge really does offer them a lifeline.”

The event is organised for Meningitis Now and other organisations by leading adventure challenge company Zip Slides UK.
