South West transport and recycling company B&A Group, also know as Bristol & Avon, have recently hit the halfway mark in their fundraising pledge for Meningitis Now
The company, who have been specialising in transport services, supply of aggregates and waste management solutions to a range of clients in the south west region for over 30 years, has been working hard to raise a total of £100,000 for Meningitis Now.
Their dedication is certainly paying off as they are now over the halfway mark, having raised a fantastic £51,553.62!
Their most recent fundraising event saw the company hosting a spooky Halloween lunch for employees, with terrifyingly tasty treats including; chicken curry, lasagne, sausage casserole, chilli, shortcake and brownies.
Clare Raby from Bristol & Avon thanked staff for their contributions, saying, “The line of slow cookers was truly impressive! We all have very busy work and home schedules, so to take the time out and make this wonderful food in a bid to raise funds for Meningitis Now is really greatly appreciated.”
The money raised by B&A will be used to fund research at the Spencer Dayman Meningitis Laboratories at the University of Bristol. If successful, the team’s findings could lead to a vaccine that would protect against all types of meningococcal disease.
Steve Dayman, founder of Meningitis Now, said, “We really appreciate the fundraising efforts of Bristol & Avon. Their dedication will help to fund vital research in the fight against meningitis, and ultimately help us to protect more people from this devastating disease.”
Bristol & Avon will be continuing their fantastic fundraising with some Christmas themed activities in a few weeks, including a Christmas Raffle with fabulous prizes, another of their popular Pop Up Cafés, and a Christmas Jumper & Glitter Day.
