Pupils at Ballywalter Primary School, Newtownards, County Down, have raised funds to fight meningitis by taking part in a ‘Mile of Fun’ along Ballywalter Beach.
The whole school took part, with the youngest pupils walking in the morning and the older children braving the ‘bracing’ summer weather in the afternoon!
Jo Wilson, Community Fundraiser for Northern Ireland at Meningitis Now, said:
“Thank you so much to the children and staff at Ballywalter Primary School for taking part in a Mile of Fun to fight meningitis!
“By taking part, they have helped to raise lifesaving funds for Meningitis Now – actively making a difference in the fight against meningitis through vaccine research, support services and lifesaving awareness.”
P1 teacher, Sarah Walton at Ballywalter Primary School said:
“Each year the school takes part in a sponsored walk. This year we decided to split the funds between the upkeep of the school and Meningitis Now, as fighting meningitis seemed like a really worthwhile and important cause.
“The children had a fantastic time walking their ‘Mile of Fun’ along Ballywalter Beach, despite the wind and rain!”
