Sending a special card this Mother’s Day has been made a bit easier, thanks to the skill and ingenuity of one of our supporters

Becca supports Meningitis Now with bespoke art business

Trainee teacher Rebecca Fellows, from Folkestone in Kent, founded her art and card company Bespoke By Becca in late July 2020 after discovering her love for art during lockdown.

This year for Mother’s Day she wanted to create something special for her mum Jan. And because her mum has had viral meningitis three times she’s donating the proceeds from selling these special cards towards our ongoing lifesaving and life-changing work.

Jan first contracted viral meningitis in 2013 when she was 42 and has had it again in 2014 and 2018. Each time she has been sent into hospital.

Strongest woman I know

Rebecca told us: “My mum is the strongest woman I know. Since my mum had meningitis she’s been unable to work and now has long-term after-effects such as memory loss.

“This year I decided to do two different Mother’s Day cards with proceeds raising money for Meningitis Now in honour of my mum. So far these have been extremely popular.

“I’m proud of my small business for helping such a great charity.”

Made with time and love

Rebecca added: ‘My art is made with so much time and love and I feel so lucky to be able to share it.

“Outside of the business I am a university student completing my degree as a trainee teacher.

“A friend of mine convinced me to create an Instagram page in order to start selling and sharing my work with others, and since then I have never looked back.

Continues to grow

“My business continues to grow and I am so excited about it. I hope you can enjoy and appreciate my pieces of art just as much as I do.”

Leah Wynn, our Fundraising Officer, said: “We’re so grateful to Rebecca for choosing to support us in this way and wish her well in her new business venture.

“The cards are a beautiful way to honour her mother and I’m sure lots of our supporters will be tempted by these and her other designs.”
