A birthday party in the West Midlands aims to fight back against meningitis
Everyone in the community is invited to the big bash to celebrate Wayne Hill’s 40th birthday, organised by his wife Hayley, 31.
Wayne and Hayley’s baby daughter Ava died from meningitis just two weeks after her first birthday in November 2014. Now the family want to mark the occasion of Wayne’s big birthday by doing something special for their daughter and raising disease awareness and funds for us at the same time.
Hayley said: “Ava had pneumococcal meningitis and meningococcal septicaemia. It was awful."
Happy baby
“She was such a happy baby, adored by her big brother Nathan and her daddy so much. She was always smiling and laughing. She was our princess and we just miss her so so much.”
The party this Saturday - 6 January – is at the Newdigate Colliery Club in Bedworth in the West Midlands. Doors open at 6pm, and everyone is welcome to come along and dance the night away.
“We’re not charging an entry fee and there will be a DJ,” Hayley added. “To raise funds we’re having a raffle and people will also be able to donate to the charity.”
