Sibling superstars Brad and Bryony Kittrick didn’t want to let the lockdown stop them from supporting Meningitis Now and decided to fundraise in their own way. Brad, from Barnsley, Yorkshire, tell us more
“My sister Bryony was supposed to be running the London Marathon this year in support of Meningitis Now, which is a charity that is very close to our hearts as a family.
“Unfortunately, due to health reasons Bryony had to defer her place to 2021, but we agreed that we could still raise money between us. We decided to take matters into our own hands by completing 26.2 miles on Sunday 7 June, with me running the marathon distance and Bryony running 10km and cycling the rest with me.
“We made sure the route passed houses of friends, family and loved ones so we could get as much support on the day as we could to help get us through the self-made Barnsley-Wakefield Marathon.
Forever thankful
“It was very difficult but by giving each other moral support and thinking of the great charity we are raising money for we managed to complete it and raise nearly 200% of our JustGiving target, which made it feel that much better when having dinner on Sunday night!
“We will be forever thankful for this charity giving us a platform to raise money for such an important cause and thankful for all the support we have received so far.”
