Building a safer community from deadly disease

14th November 2015

Belfast residents are invited to become part of our ‘futures builder’ recognition scheme and join our fight against meningitis

A group of volunteers are meeting at Tesco Community Room in Knocknagony on Saturday 21 November to hold an information and training day for anyone interested in supporting Meningitis Now.

Attendees will be able to brush up on their disease knowledge and find out more about the futures builder role. The event begins at 11am.

“Becoming a futures builder is easy. Whatever you can do, be it fundraising, talking about meningitis signs and symptoms at your local school, sharing our posts on social media or sharing your meningitis story on our website, you are a futures builder."

“We have created this meeting for anyone who wants to get involved with the charity to arm them with the skills they need to carry out the role with confidence, whatever they decide to do."

“It’s a great opportunity to find out all about our exciting volunteer opportunities in 2015/16 and everyone is welcome. It will be a great day and we are looking forward to seeing as many people there as possible!”

Futures builder is a supporter recognition scheme, set up to identify and thank the hard work done by volunteers, fundraisers and campaigners who dedicate their spare time to help fight meningitis.

“Through the support, enthusiasm and hard work of our futures builder’s we can develop rebuilding futures communities, where people come together to share ideas and experiences, encouraging one another to take up new challenges and raise vital funds and awareness. Together we can achieve great things and beat this disease.”

Approximately 3,200 people are affected by meningitis every year in the UK. By pledging your support as a futures builder you are saving lives and helping all those in the UK who have been affected by meningitis.
