As part of their training, and to help raise funds towards their sponsorship, Lydia Rudge, who is heading up the team of eight, organised a cake sale last week.
And in what is hopefully a good omen for the rigours of the walk ahead and will help spur the walkers on, the event went really well.
Loads of cake
Lydia, a Senior Design/Development Engineer with the engineering company, based near our Head Office in Gloucestershire, told us: “We had loads of cake and a lot of people turned up from across the company to donate. We even extended the sale to allow those working from home on the first day to buy cake the next day.”
“In cash donations on the day we raised £145.55, and we also received lots of online donations to the JustGiving page.”
“Now we’re all really looking forward to taking on the walk on Sunday and keeping our fingers crossed for good weather.”
If you wanted to add your contribution to the team (afraid the cakes have all long gone though) you can do so on the JustGiving page.
Great to see corporate supporters
Our Partnerships Fundraiser Laura Williams, who sent Lydia some balloons and banners to help promote their sale, said: “It is great to see our corporate supporters engaging with our Five Valleys Walk and we wish the Renishaw team and all our walkers well on Sunday.”
“I know there are lots of cake stalls and other refreshments available around the route, so if they need a top up, they will have plenty of opportunities.”
“Thank you Lydia and everyone for your support and we look forward to seeing you on Sunday.”
Our Five Valleys Walk is returning from a two-year hiatus this year and offers a fabulous day of walking, entertainment, and local food.
The Renishaw team members are among 600 walkers who have pre-registered for the event. Hopefully, many more will come along on the day. If that is you, and the thought of cake and a walk has whetted your appetite to join in the fun, then just pop along on Sunday to one of our walk checkpoints and sign up – we would love to see you.
