This new virtual event has just been launched by Captain Tom’s daughter Hannah Ingram-Moore and London Marathon Events, to celebrate the life of Captain Tom and his incredible fundraising that inspired the world this time last year as he took on 100 laps of his garden for charity, raising nearly £40 million for the NHS Covid-19 appeal.
Now it’s your turn. To celebrate this legacy, we’re challenging you, whatever your age or ability, to take on your own 100 challenge on what would have been Captain Tom's birthday weekend between Friday 30 April and Monday 3 May.
The choice is yours
Our Fundraising Manager Kirsty Owen-Hayward said, “You could walk 100 laps of your garden, just like Captain Tom, swim 100 lengths of your local pool, bake 100 cakes, tell 100 jokes or sing for 100 minutes – the choice is entirely yours.
“It’s free to take part in the #CaptainTom100 and there are no fundraising targets – just raise what you can.
“Whatever you choose to do, have lots of fun while fundraising for Meningitis Now and make sure you follow the appropriate Government guidelines on staying safe. Thank you for your support, and remember to share your 100 on social media using #CaptainTom100 and #meningitisnow.”
‘Tomorrow will be a good day’
Captain Tom's daughter, Hannah Ingram-Moore, said, “We know my father would love the idea of inviting everyone to get involved and share their Captain Tom 100 so that together we can ensure 'Tomorrow will be a good day'."
