Charity golf day

13th March 2017

Golfers are encouraged to get involved and put meningitis at the fore during a charity golf and spa day

Mere

The day has been organised by Sheffield software developer Rebmark Legal Solutions, in aid of Meningitis Now, and will be held at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa, Knutsford, Cheshire on Thursday 20th April.

The day includes breakfast, exclusive use of the driving range, and a complimentary club ‘drop and clean’ service. In the evening you will be able to enjoy an informal dinner and drinks, whilst sharing stories of your golfing victories, or perhaps frustrations!

Not just for golfers

Don’t worry if you’re not into the leisurely paced, highly skilled, and often frustrating sport that is golf though – there is also the opportunity to opt for a relaxing spa day instead!

Whilst experienced golfers pitch and putt their way towards team and individual prizes, including nearest the pin and longest drive trophies, non-golfers can take advantage of the spa and gym facilities whilst beginners try out a golf lesson, followed by a relaxing afternoon in the spa.

Organiser Seb Wright, Training and Development Manager at Rebmark, said: “This day is not just for golfers; everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the wonderful facilities The Mere has to offer.

“We hope lots of people will join us for the day and help raise money to fight back against this devastating disease.

“It’s a charity and cause close to our heart and we know only too well how quickly it can turn people’s lives upside down.”

Adam Fletcher, Rebmark’s National Sales Manager, saw his 18-month-old son Elliott contract the disease 11 years ago. He spent 17 days in intensive care and six months in Sheffield Children’s Hospital. Elliott pulled through, but the disease has left him with lifelong after-effects and a wheelchair user.

Entry to the golf day is £380 for teams of four or £100 per person. Spa tickets are £60 and further treatments are available to purchase. Buggies and hotel accommodation are also available. To find out more and book email seb.wright@rebmark.co.uk or phone 0114 266 3300.

Great event

Roya Armstrong, Regional Fundraising Officer for Meningitis Now, said: “We’re really grateful to Seb and everyone at Rebmark for putting together such a great event and wish them well on the day.

“Every penny raised will help us fight the disease on all fronts – funding pioneering preventative research, raising awareness and supporting people affected.

“Support like this makes a real difference to those who are at risk from meningitis and those whose lives have already been changed forever because of it.”

So, why not lace up your golf shoes, grab your clubs and head to The Mere, for a day of fun and fundraising!
