Families across the country have continued to benefit from our extensive support work, saving lives and rebuilding futures, during this year’s coronavirus pandemic
It’s proved a difficult time for more traditional fundraising streams, with so many events not going ahead, so we’re particularly grateful to The National Lottery Community Fund and the Government for stepping up to the plate with a generous £100,000 donation from the Coronavirus Community Support Fund towards this vital aspect of our ongoing work.
This money, awarded by the largest funder of community activity in the UK, has helped us to fund the support and information activities we were able to deliver under the COVID-19 restrictions, as we adapted to a new way of delivering our support services. Of course, we had to minimise the risk of ill health for supporters and staff, so some events, like our popular Family Days for example, have had to be put on ice for the time being.
Nurse-led Helpline
Even though the range of our activities has been limited and our Support team numbers reduced, we have been, and still are, here to answer your questions and talk through any worries or concerns through our professional and friendly nurse-led Helpline.
Our Community Support Team has also been ever present too, offering front-line emotional support to help those affected by meningitis come to terms with the trauma it causes and the way it changes lives.
