Daisy shows us the way

22nd August 2018

Our good friends at Daisy First Aid, who are supporting us by holding a series of Toddle Waddles this year, popped into our office the other day so we could practise what they preach

Local Daisy First Aid trainer Paula, who runs the Stroud franchise where our Head Office is based, ran a valuable free-of-charge training session for our staff and in the process learnt a bit more about meningitis to include in her training.

Paula already hands out our signs and symptoms cards at each of her training events.

Training is essential

Our staff enjoyed the training and found it invaluable - even those of us who do not have children of our own. One of our team commented that "This training is essential because we all attend Family Days, and I now know what to do should a child need emergency first aid care."

We teamed up with Daisy First Aid - the award-winning first aid trainer - earlier this year, to help parents overcome their fear of meningitis and take steps to fight back against it.

Fun and fear-free

Daisy First Aid offers fun and fear-free first aid courses designed for parents and child carers. In a two-hour class, which takes place in the attendee’s own home or a local venue, parents learn how to treat the most common accidents and emergencies calmly and confidently.

All the Daisy First Aid franchises across the UK will also be holding one of our Toddle Waddles and so far 11 out of the 60 have taken place, raising nearly £2,000 towards our vital work. Jo Dudbridge, Manager and Trainer with Daisy First Aid Cardiff & Vale, recently held a Toddle Waddle with a 'fun in the sun' theme; read Jo's account here

Enjoyable and relevant

Community Fundraiser Carrie Bater commented, “This was a really enjoyable and relevant training session and we’re so grateful to Paula at Daisy First Aid for taking the time and trouble to come along and share her knowledge and experience."

“We’re delighted to have teamed up with Daisy First Aid to help promote meningitis awareness and through their Toddle Waddles raise funds to support those whose lives have been affected by it.”
