Fancy dress fights meningitis

3rd September 2015

The Stroud-based bunch donned their pastime attire to raise money for the charity, ahead of Communication and Press Officer Natasha Neal’s participation in the Three Peaks Challenge.

“Everyone really got on board with the fancy dress and raised a fantastic amount towards my fundraising total. There were some great costumes and a prize for the winner, and it was really easy to organise.”

Outfits included bakers, a painter, horse riders, a cheerleader and a roller-skater.

The challenge

Natasha, 26, of Stonehouse, will take part in the challenge in its 15th year from 4-6 September. The gruelling event tests participants to the limit, climbing the three mountains of Snowden, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis in just 36 hours.

“The peaks are going to be extremely tough – I have never done anything like this before but I’m really excited to take on the challenge. I think one of the hardest parts will be the lack of sleep. I’m not aiming for a record time; I feel like just reaching the end within the 36 hours will be a huge achievement for me.”

“Since working for Meningitis Now, I have learnt so much about the disease and the impact it can have on individuals and their families. The support provided by the charity is second-to-none. I really hope I can raise as much as possible, to enable them to continue providing this support for years to come.”

The dress-up day and tombola raised nearly £100 towards Natasha’s fundraising total for the challenge.
