We’re delighted to be able to announce the return of our popular Rebuilding Futures Fund
The Fund, started last year, provides financial, practical and emotional support to people of all ages across the UK affected by meningitis and helps them build a better future for themselves.
It has been on hold over the last eight months during the coronavirus pandemic whilst we focused on supporting young people through our COVID-19 Young Futures Fund. But we’re now able to accept new applications.
Claire Donovan, our Support Manager, said: “We know life after meningitis can be tough. The Rebuilding Futures Fund can help all ages affected by meningitis, so please get in touch if it’s something that would benefit you or someone you know who has been affected by meningitis.”
Four separate areas
The programme is made up of four separate areas – Health & Wellbeing, Opportunities, Bereavement and Specialist Equipment.
Claire added, “Each area provides funding towards different types of support, but they are all designed to help people to begin to rebuild their futures with hope and confidence.
“Support via the Rebuilding Futures Fund is available to anyone living in the UK who has been directly or indirectly affected by meningitis.
“We’re not about quick fixes; we’re here to provide tailored support with long-term impact, that will really help people and families to rebuild their lives after meningitis.
“We’re proud to provide this unique, life-changing support – the only meningitis organisation to do so in the UK.”
Made my life infinitely better
Here’s what some previous recipients have told us about the value of the Fund.
“I am really grateful to have the award for the new laptop. I have goals to continue working and without it I would be unable to communicate well with others, let alone prepare for educational activities. It will mean that I can continue on the educational course that I have already started and wish to continue.” Nicola
“Before the indoor wheelchair from Meningitis Now I was just making do with crawling about the house as I couldn’t drive my outdoor chair inside or my house would have been absolutely filthy. This chair has made my life infinitely better.” Helen
“His car really helps give Glen a good quality of life. He can meet his old friends. He can go to clubs and meet his mates there, go and meet new friends, go to a local pottery and enjoy lots of other activities. The fund really is a lifeline – it improves everything.” Glen’s mum Gwynn
