Getting Social with Meningitis Now's Believe & Achieve

Andy Hopkinson | 22nd February 2020

Our Believe & Achieve team members are a social bunch. They like nothing better than bringing young people with an experience of meningitis together, getting to know them better and inspiring them to move forward in their lives

One of the ways they do this is through our series of popular social evenings, held in various relaxed and friendly locations around the country. These social evenings allow young people to meet each other, de-stress and take part in fun activities – what’s not to love?

People like Chloe, who told us: “So proud of myself and I really had a fantastic time. It was lovely to meet new people who had experienced what I had experienced and to talk about meningitis. All the stories were so inspiring.

“It was my first ever Believe & Achieve meet-up and I couldn’t have shared it with better people.”

Fresh from the success of our first social event of the year in Manchester the team is now heading over the sea to Belfast for the next event in the calendar.

Join us in the Titanic Quarter

This takes place in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter on Friday 6 March between 5.45pm and 9.15pm, and young people from across the Province with an experience of meningitis are invited to come along.

Our Believe & Achieve socials are free to attend, safe, inclusive and accessible for everyone. They include food and we even pay your travel expenses.

Becky Hartwell, our Believe & Achieve Programme Coordinator, said: “Our Believe & Achieve programme is for 14 to 25-year-olds who have been directly or indirectly impacted by meningitis.

“It can help you think about where you are in life, set and achieve goals, overcome challenges, make new friends and learn new skills.

“But all this starts with one of our social evenings, where you can test the water in a fun and friendly environment, find out more and see what elements of the programme will work for you. It’s completely up to you how much you choose to get involved.

“Do join us in Belfast if you can and keep your eye on our website for details of other social evenings around the UK.”
