Our fabulous Ambassador Lisa Snowdon (who knows a thing or two about glitter, having reached the final of Strictly Come Dancing a few years ago) is backing the event this year.
She told us, “I know only too well the misery meningitis can bring. Fortunately I made a good recovery, but others are not so lucky. That’s why I’m inviting you to hold a festive fundraiser and bring your family and friends together for a glittery party with a purpose."
“They’re a piece of cake to organise with all the ideas in Meningitis Now’s Get Your Glitter On welcome pack, but can make a big difference to those at risk of the disease and those whose lives have already been changed forever because of it."
“What’s stopping you? Let’s sparkle this Christmas!”
Start the festive season with a sparkle
Get Your Glitter On parties are the perfect excuse to spend time with your family, friends and colleagues and start the festive season with a sparkle – whilst helping to save lives and rebuild futures.
Echoing Lisa’s experience you could base yours around an episode of Strictly Come Dancing.
Or there are lots of other ideas, from invitations to recipes and decorations, in our free jam-packed Get Your Glitter On welcome pack to make it an easy and fun event to organise. We’ve even found a source of biodegradable eco glitter for you from our good friends at Eco Glitter Fun – so you can do your bit for the planet at the same time.
The serious point is that you will be making a real difference to those at risk of meningitis and those whose lives have already been changed forever because of it.
Money raised will help to fund preventative research, raise awareness and support those affected by the disease through our unique range of services.
Jo Wilson, our Fundraising Manager who’s organising Get Your Glitter On this year, said, “Our Time 4 Tea events are always popular so we’re giving them a seasonal twist to add that little bit of sparkle to your festive celebrations."
“You can Get Your Glitter On wherever and whenever you want – at home, at work, at school - and friends, family, neighbours and colleagues can all be invited to join the fun."
“Sparkling wine, quizzes, dressing up in your glittery finest – or Christmas jumpers – and Christmas craft sessions can all be on the menu."
“It’s a fun and easy event to organise, fit in with your Christmas plans and yet can make such a difference.”
