We’d like to say a huge thank you and good luck to all the cyclists joining Team Tangerine’s Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 challenge this weekend, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that conditions won’t be as challenging as last year
We have 40 cyclists joining us for the event on Sunday 4 August, which takes in a course from the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford before finishing at The Mall, by way of the beautiful Surrey countryside.
Our cyclists will be joining 30,000 similar enthusiasts to cycle through a traffic-free London and take on the leg-testing climbs and the world-famous Box Hill zig-zags.
Those of you with a good memory will remember it all got a bit… well, er, soggy last year. But that won’t happen this year. We’re certain conditions will be just right and everybody taking part will have a really enjoyable experience.
Post-race welcome
As usual, we’ll be there to give our riders a huge welcome at our post-race reception near the finish line, where drinks, snacks, a shower and sports massage all await. Friends and family are also welcome to join our riders there.
“Having the opportunity to meet our supporters and their families on the day is the best part of the job and a truly humbling experience," our Events Manager Kirsty Hayward-Owen said.
So, good luck to you all, and we look forward to seeing you there and hearing how it all went.
Doing it again next year
If you’re tempted by the idea and would like to take on the event for us in 2020 the good news is that we’ll be doing it all again then. But let us know soon – we only have the 35 guaranteed places next year.
Kirsty added, “The Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 is a huge challenge and requires a great deal of training and mental preparation. It requires commitment but it does deliver a huge sense of achievement."
“We’d love to hear from individuals or teams who’d like to take part next year and help us move forwards against meningitis and get closer to our vision of a future where no one in the UK dies from meningitis and everyone affected gets the support they need.”
The date for next year’s event is still to be confirmed, but it will be a Sunday in August. You can sign up and guarantee your place on our Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 team for 2020 today. It only costs £9.99 to register with a fundraising pledge of £450.
Being a part of our team means you will receive:
- Your own personalised technical cycling jersey, worth £25
- A huge welcome at our post-race reception; drinks, snacks, a shower and sports massage all await you near the finish line (friends and family are also welcome)
- Training plans, fundraising tips, advice, merchandise and support from the Meningitis Now Events team
- Access to a private team Facebook group, providing support amongst team members
- A dedicated member of staff to help you every step of the way
And, if you needed further persuasion, then this is what Imogen, who took on the event last year, told us: “I just wanted to say thank you to you and the rest of the team for the lovely welcome at the reception. I don’t think I’ve ever had a better shower! It was a pleasure riding for your charity.”
