Gotta lotta bottle

29th January 2019

We had a special delivery recently – a very generous donation of 18,000 plastic water bottles that can be used again and again for years to come

Water bottles donated to Meningitis Now blog

The bottles have already been handed out to help re-hydrate walkers taking part in our Five Valleys Walk last September and have also been given to students at freshers’ fairs around the country over the late autumn, as part of our MenACWY awareness drive.

Staff were kept busy putting a Meningitis Now sticker on each bottle and inserting one of our lifesaving signs and symptoms cards inside every one.

The water bottles will also be handed out at our other events throughout the coming year.

We’re really grateful to Scott Westmoreland, Distribution and Logistics Manager at Giftpoint, who deliver innovative and creative promotional merchandise solutions, for supporting us in this way – the bottles have a value of over £60,000!

Spring in their step

Scott told us, “All my team had a spring in their step after they felt they had a done a good deed, so everyone is happy.”

He added, “Giftpoint has been generous on numerous occasions but I don’t feel any previous support has given us this much personal satisfaction in helping a charity which does wonderful things."

“Our daughter Esmé was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis in October 2015 and if it wasn’t for this country’s wonderful NHS she wouldn’t have been alive to see her parents get married in May last year."

Support helped immensely

“The support Meningitis Now gave my wife Louise through this difficult period helped her immensely."

“To this day we are still affected by the long-term after-affects that come with meningitis – recently we found out Esmé is deaf in her left ear and has been since the meningitis struck. She also has hypermobility, but apart from that she is a healthy and clever little girl."

“In May for our wedding in Kos, we didn’t want to give people favours that had no meaning, so we donated and received your wristbands, which my whole wedding party still wear with pride."

“Giftpoint is co-owned by my aunty Helen, so this is obviously personal for her. The company thrives on helping the less fortune as well as any charities that mean a lot to us.”

Wonderful and generous gift

Our chief executive, Tom Nutt, added, “We’d like to thank Scott, Helen and everyone at Giftpoint for this wonderful and generous gift – it’s proving a real bonus and talking point for us having these bottles for our supporters at our events."

“Thank you for your support. As a charity that receives no government funding, we rely on the support from corporate supporters such as Giftpoint to continue making such a positive difference to the lives of people affected by meningitis.”
