Get your heart racing this February with a Valentine’s themed running challenge
As well as raising money to support our vital ongoing work and fighting back against this devastating disease you can also reward yourself with a special heart medal on completion of the challenge.
The February Accumulator Challenge from Great Run is easy to get involved with and runs from 1 to 28 February. All you need to do is register before 8 February and complete 14 runs of any distance during the month to receive your medal.
Kirsty Owen-Hayward, our Fundraising Manager, said: “I have signed up and cannot wait to put on my running shoes. Why not join me?
Valentine’s themed challenge
“The Valentine’s themed challenge is to complete 14 runs of any distance during February – your reward for completing the challenge is a special medal. This is in the shape of a heart and includes a smaller heart attachment, which can be removed and gifted to someone special – the best Valentine’s gift a runner could ask for!
“To spice things up, the challenge also includes an optional distance element.
“Depending how far you run, you will be awarded with a bespoke digital finisher's certificate to download and share. This could be Running Head Over Heels for 35 miles; It’s a Love Hate Thing for 70 miles; or Love Bitten by the Running Bug for a massive 125 miles.”
Perfect run buddy to keep you moving
Kirsty added: “The challenge starts on 1 February and finishes on 28 February, making it the perfect run buddy to keep you moving throughout February.
“And, let’s face it, it’s a lot easier and a more fun way of looking after your health and wellbeing than taking on Dry January!”
The challenge is now open for entry and closes on Monday 8 February. Find out more and enter here.
It costs just £15 to enter and as well as the finishers’ medal this includes access to training plans and tips and an online tracking tool. Or you could have a look at the online running plans, including a Couch to 5k plan for beginners, in our Events Training Hub.
You could also set up your own JustGiving page, set a fundraising target and get your family and friends to support your efforts.
