Join us for our 2018 Five Valleys Walk

24th August 2018

We’d like to invite you to join us on Sunday 30 September for our popular Five Valleys Walk

Five Valleys Walk

This sponsored walk through the beautiful Cotswold countryside in and around Stroud, where our Head Office is located, supports our lifesaving and life-changing research, awareness and support work, fighting back against the devastation of meningitis.

Walkers can take on the whole 21-mile route or start and finish at any one of eight checkpoints, with a free shuttle bus back to their starting point.

Everyone is welcome

Carrie Bater, our Community Fundraiser who organises the event, said: “We’d love as many people as possible to join us on the day – whether it’s for the full 21 miles or just a couple. Everyone is welcome and the walk is suitable for all ages and abilities."

“There’s food, drink and entertainment along the way and of course dogs are welcome. It’s a wonderful day out that all the family can enjoy. The serious point is that by taking part you’ll be helping to raise awareness of meningitis and vital funds to support those affected.”

Parking available

Checkpoints open at 8.30am and close at 5.30pm. We’re recommending walkers aim to start and finish at Stroud Cricket Club, which will stay open till 10pm and where parking is available. Free fruit and water is provided at each checkpoint. To look the part on the day a range of Five Valleys branded merchandise, including T-shirts, rucksacks, lunchboxes and dog bandanas, is available from the shop. All proceeds from this comes to us.

There is also a prize for the top fundraiser. Bristol Balloons has kindly donated a weekday morning hot air balloon ride for two, which will be won by the person who raises the most money from their sponsorship.

Sign up today

Advance entry costs £10 for adults and £5 for children (under 5s free). Tickets for groups of up to four people, bought in advance only, are £30. Sign up today for the Five Valleys Walk.

“Meningitis can affect anyone at any time,” Carrie added. “The Five Valleys Walk is the perfect opportunity for the whole family to do their bit and make a real difference to those at risk from the disease or living with its impact.”

Special thanks this year go to Stagecoach West, Ecotricity, Renishaw, Connexus, National Trust and Wheatley Printers Ltd for their support of the Five Valleys Walk.
