Support meningitis survivor Liam’s Smiles Charity Ball

6th March 2015

The only place to be this weekend is the Village Hotel in Solihull, where supporter Becky Doyle is holding a glamorous ball for us to help raise awareness and funds

Liam’s Smiles Charity Ball is named after brave meningitis survivor Liam Doyle, 4, Becky’s son, who is fighting his way back from bacterial meningitis in July 2010.

Becky told us:  “Our lives changed forever the night Liam first became ill. Since then he has spent so much time in and out of hospital. We know when things are going to get better, not by what the doctors tell us but when we start to see Liam’s smile come back. While Liam keeps smiling we must keep fighting.”

The ball takes place at the Village Hotel in Solihull on Saturday and promises a three-course meal, entertainment and a few surprises. Guests are being asked to dress to impress.

Liam’s brother Harry, 12, has been working hard behind the scenes to ensure the ball’s success. He has written to local businesses asking for their support in buying tables for the event or donating auction prizes.

In his letter Harry said: “Even after all he goes through, Liam never stops smiling – his strength of character and his happy personality is a real testament to who he is.”
