We’re getting a tasty boost thanks to a truly unique burger created by Meningitis Now’s celebrity ambassador Lisa Snowdon
Lisa has teamed up with the Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge to serve up her “Double Trouble Truffle Burger” which will help raise vital funds for our work.
The burger is made with two smashed beef patties, American cheese, truffle mayo, truffle paste, baby gem lettuce and tomato salsa.
The unique burger is available in April as part of an initiative created by Tom Kerridge and is on sale at his award-winning pub, the Butcher’s Tap and Grill in Marlow. A portion of the profits from each burger sold is being donated Meningitis Now.
Lisa became an ambassador for Meningitis Now after experiencing the terror of meningitis herself, when she was struck down with viral meningitis in December 2010.
The TV presenter had battled against her symptoms to continue with work commitments, but she was eventually rushed to hospital. Having made a full recovery some months later, Lisa has continued to support us with fundraising challenges and awareness work.
Lisa, who won Celebrity Masterchef in 2022 said, “The burger is all about a bit of decadence! It’s a great way for people to show their support for such an important cause. I am supporting Meningitis Now after contracting the disease 13 years ago.”
Lisa added, “I want to spread the word about the vital work the charity does and raise as much money as I can, so do get down to the Butcher’s Tap and get ordering!”
The launch of the new “Double Trouble Truffle Burger” comes just a month after new figures were released which show that there has been a doubling of cases of meningitis across England.
Figures released by the UK Health Security Agency show that cases of Invasive meningococcal disease in England have increased from just 80 in 2020-2021 to 205 cases in the twelve months from July 2021 to June 2022.
