The much-loved event returns for its 35th outing (making allowances for the last two years), following a beautiful 21-mile route through the Five Valleys around our Head Office in Stroud in Gloucestershire, and celebrating our roots and the roots of the meningitis movement in the area.
As always the beauty of our Five Valleys Walk is that you don’t have to do the full circuit. Instead, you can pick which of the stages you do, starting and finishing at any of our checkpoints. Then, when you’ve had enough, pop on a courtesy bus, which will deliver you back to your starting point.
There will be lots of eating and drinking outlets on the way round too, so you won’t go hungry or thirsty either.
Help defeat meningitis in the UK
We’re hoping that some 2,000 people will join us on the day and raise funds towards our lifesaving and life-changing work, as we look to defeat meningitis in the UK within a generation.
The walk is particularly suitable for groups and we’re hoping that lots of family and local community groups from in and around Gloucestershire will join us and make a day of it.
But we also hope those from further afield will take part, in memory of loved ones lost to meningitis and other causes.
And, of course, dogs are very welcome to bring their owners along for the walk too.
Something for everyone
“This walk has something for everyone and has sections which are suitable for all ages and abilities,” said Meningitis Now Fundraising Officer Kat Hollywell. “It will be lovely to welcome back our regular walkers from near and far and of course everyone who wants to join them – the more the merrier.”
So, get the date of Sunday 25 September in your diary and keep an eye on our website for when tickets go on sale in early June. In the meantime, you can register your interest and we’ll keep you updated with everything you need to know.
