Meningitis Now is delighted to have heard the news of the conferment of the Dukedom of Edinburgh upon His Royal Highness Prince Edward, The Earl of Wessex and Forfar. This news means that our Royal Patron, Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex and Forfar, will be known from today as Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh
Meningitis Now CEO Dr Tom Nutt said:
“This is wonderful news. I have written to Her Royal Highness today, not only to wish His Royal Highness Prince Edward a very Happy Birthday, but also to congratulate the whole family on the news.
For many people, the title ‘Duke of Edinburgh’ is synonymous with the incredible work of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Since Meningitis Now works extremely closely with young people affected by meningitis through our Believe & Achieve programme, it seems fitting in there is an affinity between the work undertaken by these two important charities.
We very much look forward to continuing our work supported by Her Royal Highness in her new capacity as HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh”.
