Meningitis Now has welcomed Dr Tom Nutt as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Dr Nutt joins Meningitis Now from Healthwatch Essex, where as CEO, he managed the county based organisation to help people access, understand, and navigate the health and social care system. Prior to this he held a number of senior roles within local government, covering health strategy and policy development, voluntary services and finance and change management. He also has strong research and academic credentials having been a Research Fellow at Cambridge University.
Alastair Irvine, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Meningitis Now, said:
“I am delighted that Tom has joined the Meningitis Now team to lead the organisation in its vision to ensure that no-one in the UK losing their life to meningitis and those affected getting the support they need to rebuild their lives. His skills and experience, particularly in the area of the voluntary sector, healthcare policy and senior leadership, will add strength and significant value to our work into the future.”
Dr Nutt joins Meningitis Now 18 months after the introduction of Bexsero, the Meningococcal B (Men B) vaccine being offered to babies up to the age of 1 and a significant milestone for the charity in its fight against the disease.
