We’ve got places in a new event for you next year and we’d love you to sign up and take part
For the first time we have places in the London Landmarks Half Marathon – the only half marathon that passes through the City of London and the City of Westminster on closed roads. As it passes the capital’s most spectacular and well-known landmarks, the event also immerses participants in London’s quirky and hidden history.
With a route lined with amazing singers, dancers, bands and musicians as well as an abundance of family activities and entertainment on offer this is an event not to be missed.
But don’t just take my word for it. Here’s what our very own Individual Giving and Marketing Officer Crissy Spice, who took on the event this year, told us…
“For our first timers, you’re in for a treat! For our old hands, you ’ain’t seen nothing yet!"
“On the morning of the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2019, I was in Richmond station at 7.30am, nine miles away from the start line – a 45 minute tube journey. No sooner had I stepped out of the car than I saw a fellow runner, a lovely lady also traveling alone who became my friend for the next three hours."
“Once you’ve arrived and settled yourself the rest is very smooth. The team of staff and volunteers has been well briefed. Bag drop is a simple and relatively quick process and during this time you also get your first opportunity to pose in front of a landmark. Buckingham Palace makes the perfect background for those pre-race pics! This is your last chance to reach out to your supporters and achieve your fundraising target, so post that pic on all the socials or tell the world on Facebook Live. Show everybody that today is your day!"
Energetic warm-up
“A very energetic warm-up lead by the local radio team preludes the start of the race. A warm-up that people are only half concentrating on because they are all just as nervous as you are – and you’re off!"
“That energy I just mentioned? It never leaves! For every step of your 13.1 mile challenge your senses are hit with an array of music, colour and incredible views. It’s hard to pace yourself when you’re running over Westminster Bridge with what feels like a personal entourage of steel drummers simultaneously making you want to work harder and run faster but also to just stop, dance and join in the party!"
“The atmosphere created by your fellow runners that surround you on this adventure is intoxicating and instead of facing the toughest 13.1 miles of your life, it becomes a game. Who can spot the Harry Potter dementors first? Who realised that the extremely American lady screaming encouragement at you was supposed to be Mary Poppins? Who nearly took out a Beefeater as you were all hair-pinning it round the streets of London?"
Truly unique event
“This event is truly unique and one that will forever change your perception of what a half marathon should be. Don’t believe me? Try it for yourself and I’ll see you there.”
It all happens on 29 March next year, starting on Pall Mall alongside St James’s Palace and passing Big Ben, Nelson’s Column, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Gherkin and the Tower of London, as well as more quirky and indeed hidden landmarks. We’re not going to say exactly what – you’ll just have to sign up to find out. The finish will be on Whitehall, just outside Downing Street (wonder who’ll be PM then and whether they’ll be there to welcome you?)
Tempted? I bet you are. Be quick though – we have just the 30 guaranteed places if you want to be part of #TeamTangerine among the 13,000 taking on the event.
It costs just £25 to register, plus a pledge of £300 and in return, as for all our running events, you will receive your own personalised technical running top, training and fundraising support and materials and a dedicated Events Fundraiser to help you every step of the way.
