Nominated charity for South Gloucestershire Show 2016

19th May 2016

We’re delighted to have been selected as the nominated charity for this year’s South Gloucestershire Show

South Glos show

The popular event, which last year attracted over 24,000 visitors, returns to its Westerleigh Showground over the weekend of 6 and 7 August 2016.

“We’re thrilled to have been selected as nominated charity at this fantastic event and look forward to a really good weekend, we’re really grateful to our corporate partners Bristol & Avon for introducing us to the show and hope the weekend raises a significant sum towards the £100,000 fundraising target they’ve set themselves in support of our research into meningitis.” said Liz Brown, our Chief Executive.

“Events like this, as well as being wonderful fundraising opportunities, are also valuable ways to spread awareness about the disease and make sure people know the signs and symptoms and how to look out for themselves and their loved ones.”

We’ll have an awareness stand at the show and interactive attractions for the public to donate.

Darren Hawkins, Event Manager of the South Gloucestershire Show, said: “We’re looking forward to an entertaining and packed show this year; with something for everyone to enjoy it’s a great weekend for all the family.”

“We’re delighted that we’ll be joined by Meningitis Now, whose vital work makes such a difference to so many not just in the South Glos area but across the UK.”

The show’s headline this year, The Knights of the Damned, will be staging an adrenaline-packed joust to wow the crowds and also 2016 sees the return of Flyin’ Ryan – a man not afraid to feel the heat with his motorbike fire stunt performances. Other attractions include a music festival, motor show, country fair, BMX stunt arena and lots more.
