Pumpkin Parade for Meningitis Now is a spooky success!

Andy Hopkinson | 26th October 2019

It was great to see so many of you in Greenhead Park for our first Pumpkin Parade. What a spectacle it was; around 300 of you took part, there was such a great atmosphere around the event and we certainly turned the Park tangerine

Joint organiser Sarah Lockey, Meningitis Now's Community Fundraiser for the North East, tells us all about it.

To Greenhead Park you did ascend,
To take part in the Pumpkin Parade with your friend.
Stalls and games and pumpkins galore
Curious faces for what is in store.

Around the park a story was told,
Room on a broom! – You are never too old!
Music and dancing our parade did begin,
Certificates awarded made all the kids grin.

A Pumpkin Parade to bring us together;
Thank you for supporting Meningitis Now - we are grateful forever!

All of us at Meningitis Now would like to thank everyone who joined in and took part in our first ever Pumpkin Parade. We hope that you all enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon and it has made you feel all ready for the big night itself – HALLOWEEN.

We have been so overwhelmed by the support the community of Huddersfield and surrounding areas have given to us.

Special thanks

Special thanks goes out to our sponsor Stafflex, who kindly donated money so that we could buy pumpkins. Thanks to the Friends of the Park, KT Dance Cheer Squad, Tiffany Haigh of Kirklees Library, Scissett Youth Band, John Duffy and Stephanie Bowgett and our chief pumpkin, Stephanie Hopkinson for making this day so special!

We had a whole team of volunteers on the day running our tombola, raffle, carving pumpkins, all of whom have a meningitis experience – they are always there to help throughout the year and we couldn’t do what we do  without them!

Events like the Pumpkin Parade are so important to help us raise awareness of the horrendous disease that is meningitis, and your donations and fundraising help our charity to support and save lives.

Thank you for supporting our event. Will you all come again next year?
