How many of you woke up this morning determined to make some big changes in your life? Get fit? Improve your mental wellbeing? Raise money for a brilliant meningitis charity?
If you’ve put your hand up, then keep reading over the next few days because we’ve got news of some of our running events coming up this year, as well as a range of brilliant plans to help you train for them.
Starting tomorrow, our special Running Into 2019 week kicks off with news about someone very close to our hearts here at Meningitis Now: our CEO Dr Tom Nutt, who has signed up for one of the country’s biggest running challenges. And to help him prepare, we’ll be launching our brand new Training Hub, collated by Meningitis Now’s resident personal trainer Rachel Oakley.
Rachel, whose day job is to work as our Web Editor, has produced guides and videos on how to prepare yourself and get fit for your chosen running or fitness event. Using her plan to help you reach your goal is a near-guaranteed way to ensure you’re fit and ready for your chosen event. This works for everyone – whether you want to run a full marathon or take on something less painful. If you’re not up for the full 26.2 miles we’ll have news of how you can get involved in our Jog On January challenge – and still get fit, have fun, and raise money for Meningitis Now.
But if you are up for a bigger challenge, we’ll also be featuring some of the most inspirational tales of people who will be running this year’s London Marathon for us – stories which we hope will inspire you to join us. This includes Louise, who’ll be running in memory of her best friend, and meningitis survivor Emily, who is determined to run the marathon this year after deferring from 2018.
And if that doesn’t motivate you enough, we’ll also be featuring the amazing account of one man who has taken on not one, but TWELVE marathons to raise money for Meningitis Now. We guarantee you will be inspired by his story – hopefully inspired enough to sign up for one of our events yourself!
You might already be a fully fit marathon runner, you might still be at the couch potato stage – but wherever you are on the running scale we’ve got an event for everyone. So, get out those running shoes, squeeze into that Lycra, and we look forward to you joining us in 2019!
