Lots of the usual ways to raise money aren’t possible right now, but we need your help more than ever
Thank you so much to all our amazing fundraisers for supporting us as we face our Biggest Challenge.
Here are ten great fundraising ideas – socially distanced of course – to get you started.
1. Virtual Brew&Bake
Just because we can’t catch up in person, doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy a cuppa and a cake with our friends and family. Hold a Brew&Bake online and you can catch up with friends and raise vital funds too!
2. Tangerine challenge
Support #TeamTangerine with, well, tangerines! Juggling, an eating competition, tallest tangerine tower, tangerine boules, grow and sell your own tangerines, tangerine and spoon race, make your own marmalade, run a tangerine-ade stand... What tangerine challenges can you come up with?
3. Virtual quiz
Most of us have been taking part in online quizzes with our nearest and dearest. But they’re also a great way of raising money too. Why not ask everyone for an entry fee? Your donations will really make a difference to our work.
4. Jog On Meningitis
Tell meningitis to jog on with our virtual running event. Run 50km in 50 days and raise £50 and we’ll send you an exclusive Meningitis Now running buff!
5. Get crafty
If you’re feeling creative, you could raise money by making and selling crafts, like face coverings, bunting or blankets. Need some inspiration? Get some ideas from fundraising superstar, Julie.
6. Virtual masterclass
If you’ve got a special skill, why not use it to raise some money? Put on a virtual masterclass and ask your friends and family to make a donation to learn a new talent – whether that’s cooking, sewing, gardening, wine tasting or whatever you like!
7. Birthday fundraiser
How about donating your birthday to Meningitis Now? You can set up a birthday fundraiser using Facebook or JustGiving and ask friends and family for donations instead of gifts.
8. Online gaming
Spend time streaming your gameplay on Twitch? You could consider donating your subs to Meningitis Now. Or organise a gaming marathon and ask your friends to sponsor you, like master gamer Liam.
9. Home challenges to do with children
If you’re looking for ways to keep your children occupied, why not set them a challenge? How many hula hoops can they spin in a minute? How many laps of the garden can they run? Kids love a challenge - especially if they’re being sponsored.
10. Online gig
People are really missing live music right now. So if you’re musical, an online gig is sure to be popular – and could help raise vital funds in the fight against meningitis.
To help with your fundraising, you can set up an online fundraising page so that people can donate directly to us and you don't need to handle any cash. We've set up a Biggest Challenge JustGiving page that you can join. Please note that other online giving pages are available.
We can also send you an electronic copy of our Fundraising Guide, which is full of top tips and advice; our contact details are below.
