We’ve already raised thousands with events across the country involving both swim schools and individuals and can’t wait to hear about all those that will be happening this coming week.
We were recently invited to talk about Splash Now at the Swim Teacher’s Association (STA)’s annual conference in front of 200 swim teachers – and are delighted to get several new sign-ups as a result.
Splash Week is being held at the end of October because the little girl who inspired the event – Clara – sadly passed away in this month, nine years ago. We thought it would be nice to hold the week every year in October to celebrate her legacy.
So far, highlights of our Splash year have included little Thomas, who kicked things off by swimming sixty lengths for us back in May; the Bowern Swim School, which organised an event to celebrate local splasher Tommy; and the infants' school in Brighton that fundraised for us at their special summer fun day.
More recently, the Canon Slade School in Bolton held a Splash event with a car wash held by the sixth form students and sponsored swim with the younger years – all in memory of their friend Joanna Yates, whose Forever Fund now stands at £28,000.
Lots of fun
“Through our partnership with the STA, Meningitis Now have been able to reach a new audience and help spread awareness of the disease in both adults and children,” said Kat Hollywell, Meningitis Now’s Community Fundraising Assistant.
“We are so looking forward to marking Clara’s legacy with Splash Week 2019 and hope that everyone taking part has lots of fun raising money and splashing around!"
“If you haven’t already, we’d love you to get signed up to hold your own Splash Now event – and don’t forget that our top individual fundraiser at the end of the year will win a special family day pass to Alton Towers, plus top groups will win lots of swimming goodies.”
