Outdoor advertising specialist Talon has raised an incredible £50,000 for Meningitis Now

Every year Talon, the UK’s only independent outdoor advertising specialist, hold a big fundraising party to celebrate their birthday and raise money for two chosen charities.

The charities are nominated by staff members and then a vote determines which two will be supported. After a group of nine staff ran the London Marathon for Meningitis Now, it was a great result to be chosen as one of the beneficiaries of their fundraising party too.

Iain Webb, an employee at Talon, has been the driving force behind the company’s support, after his close friend’s little boy contracted meningitis.

Money was raised via ticket sales for the party, a raffle and an auction; some of the amazing prizes kindly donated by various companies included FA cup final and Wimbledon Centre Court tickets, a spa day at Champney’s for six people, a week-long holiday in Poole for seven people, four tickets to glorious Goodwood and a three night city break in Amsterdam for two people.

Before the auction took place, representatives from both charities gave a talk, with Meningitis Now Founder Steve Dayman and Community Ambassador Mary Garley speaking about the charity’s work and vision for the future.

Talon’s managing partner Frank Bryant took the lead as compere for the auction and picked the raffle prize winners, before everyone partied the night away.

A fantastic £40,555 was raised from the evening, with a further £10,000 added from the London Marathon team!

Harry Gardner, Corporate Account Executive at Meningitis Now, said, “Talon have raised an incredible amount for Meningitis Now, and we are so thankful for their support.”

“The total they have raised for us is just amazing, and means that we will be able to continue supporting families and individuals whose lives have been affected by meningitis.”
