Meningitis Now founder Steve says a big thank you to Tyne-Lexy and Raffleaid

Our Executive Founder Steve Dayman likes nothing better than meeting our wonderful supporters and having the opportunity to say thank you to them for everything they do to help us continue our vital work, saving lives and rebuilding futures

“I am incredibly proud of the work we do, from raising awareness to supporting people living with the impact of meningitis and of course to funding vital research,” he said.

“But of course, without our supporters none of this would happen – we rely on you to help us raise the funds we need.

“Every donation helps us keep going until the fight is won. And it is particularly important at the moment when the Covid-19 pandemic has hit our charity hard.”

That’s why he was glad of the opportunity last week to meet former Love Island contestant Tyne-Lexy Clarson and her mum Tracee, and say a big thank you for a giant cheque for £500. The donation is the proceeds from the monthly charity raffle on Raffleaid, the online raffle that the pair jointly organise.

Hospitalised for six weeks

Tracee is a meningitis survivor and explained to Steve how she had contracted meningococcal meningitis, which hospitalised her for six weeks seven years ago. Fortunately, she went on to make a good recovery but the experience has made both Tyne-Lexy and Tracee keen to support our ongoing work.

Tyne-Lexy, who took part in the 2017 series of the popular reality TV show, told Steve: “We have learnt first-hand the absolute importance of charities at people’s time of need.

“In 2014, when mum fell ill with meningococcal meningitis and septicaemia, we realised how much people can rely on charities.

“This is why we’ve chosen to run special monthly charity raffles, from which we will donate 100 per cent of profits to our chosen charity – Meningitis Now.

“We aim to not only change people’s lives with our luxury prizes but to also change lives with our charitable donations.”

Steve added: “They are both very enthusiastic about supporting us in the future and we were all very pleased to meet and look forward to seeing one another in the future.”

Support a cause so important to us

Tyne-Lexy added: “We aim to give our customers an enjoyable experience whilst playing on Raffleaid and hope to keep you entertained with our weekly live prize draws. Each draw will have a definite winner with results being drawn through a random number generator live on your screens.

“Thank you so much to everyone for all of your support and enabling us to support a cause so important to us.”

And thank you Tyne-Lexy and Tracee for your valuable support – it’s much appreciated.
