Top Bristol company on the road to beating meningitis

14th April 2015

Top South West provider of recycled aggregates, earthworks and waste management services, Bristol & Avon Group, has today launched a partnership programme with us to raise £100,000 for disease research

The partnership, launched at their Bristol head office in Hallen, will see the company sponsor a specially-branded truck £1 for every load it carries during the year. Suppliers and customers will add to the amount raised by the company and its staff to reach the £100,000 target, which will be used to fund meningitis research in the Spencer Dayman Laboratory at Bristol University.

Our founder Steve Dayman MBE, went along to the launch to say thank you to the company for their generosity. “We’re really grateful to Bristol & Avon Group for their wonderfully generous support,” he said.

“This will be our biggest cash corporate partnership. The money raised will make a real difference in our fight to beat meningitis through vaccine and preventative research."

Additional awareness too

“We’ll also benefit from additional awareness as people see this brightly-coloured branded truck out and about around the West Country.”

The new partnership represents the second generation of the family firm, founded by Jimmy Berkely and his wife Margaret over 30 years ago, to support us.

Clare Berkely, Bristol & Avon’s Finance Director, said: “We are really excited about supporting Meningitis Now in this way and looking forward to working with them to make a significant impact on this devastating disease."

“I’m sure our suppliers, customers and staff will back our efforts and between us we can really make a difference. We’re absolutely committed to reaching our £100,000 target.”

The group has invested over £7 million in a new state-of-the-art 11 acre aggregate recycling facility, centralising all operational activities to include a four bay workshop, offices, soil washing plant and waste transfer station.
