August volunteer page

Slough Fire Station Car Wash - Saturday 11 August

Ben Martin Stone is organising a car wash in memory of his granddaughter. We are looking for volunteers to walk around with collection buckets and to give out signs and symptoms cards.

Frocester Beer Festival - Friday 24 August from 2pm-11pm and Saturday 25 August from 11am-11pm

We are looking for volunteers who would enjoy running an awareness stand at Frocester Beer Festival. You would be putting up and taking down the gazebo, setting out and giving out awareness materials and talking about Meningitis Now.

The festival started out 39 years ago as a small local beer festival and has been growing at an impressive rate ever since. FBF is proud to be one of the area’s most recognised beer and music festivals and now attracts over 4,000 visitors annually from near and far. To date the festival has raised over £1.2 million for local charities and the local cricket club.

Simplyhealth Great North Run - Sunday 9 September

Last year our half marathon runners at the Simplyhealth Great North Run raised close to £35,000. Following a spectacular course from the centre of Newcastle-upon-Tyne to the coast at South Shields, the Simplyhealth Great North Run is one of the biggest half marathons in the world. Around 57,000 runners take on the epic 13.1 miles each year including world class athletes such as Mo Farah. This event is truly a calendar highlight for new and experienced runners alike.

Come and soak up the atmosphere as you cheer on our 2018 Great North Run team.

Become a Community Volunteer
“I am a passionate believer in what Meningitis Now is doing and about helping to spread awareness of this disease. Sometimes it can be very difficult and very emotional too, but it’s worth it. The respect that goes with volunteering helps make life feel positive.”

Damion - Community Volunteer

“I volunteer in many ways; distributing literature, attending awareness fairs, promoting and assisting with Toddle Waddle events, London Marathon and more. Volunteering is my therapy. I gain so much from it and I always try to be there when I am needed.”

Mary - Community Ambassador
