August 2017 round up
South Glos Show – contrary to what the photo suggests, most of the day wasn’t spent lounging in an oversized deckchair! Our dozen-strong team were busy raising awareness with visitors to the show and helping raise funds.
Young volunteer Olivia Sinha-Roy enjoyed her recent stint at head office supporting the communications team. Olivia said “Thank you for making me feel welcome and making the whole experience enjoyable. I’ve improved my writing skills and enjoyed it very much.”
Welcome to new volunteers: Maisie Cupit, Stephanie Rhodes, who has been busy distributing awareness materials, Joanne Muscat, Alexander Rubinstein for putting student packs together, and Belinda Barnes who got stuck straight in with awareness in her local area. Thank you all!
Huge thanks to Sacha Hannah who called hundreds of cycling and outdoor shops asking them to display our flyers for Ride London and the Lake District Challenge, and made her way around Gloucestershire dropping off more flyers.
And finally, thanks to the volunteers who helped out with Ride London - cheering and taking photographs.
Student Awareness Campaign
Thank you for your fantastic response so far to our call for volunteers. Thanks to you we have over 60 universities already ‘adopted’ by a volunteer, but there are still lots of opportunities, see the full universities list.
If you'd like to be involved, please get in touch.
Pauline and Eliza help family wellbeing
Community Ambassador Pauline Grime and her daughter Eliza supported a Fun4Families day run by Wellbeing, Prevention and Early Help Service in the Rossendale District. We were invited to the event by Stephanie Rhodes - a recently-recruited volunteer.
Pauline and Eliza set up a fun awareness raising stand to help spread awareness to children receiving social care and their families.
Thanks very much to both of you and to Stephanie!
Check out our volunteer opportunities.
