In 2014, I fundraised to climb Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania (if you’re looking for a challenge, I really recommend it!)

Carrie Bater

Community Fundraiser

Hi, I'm Carrie, Community Fundraising Officer for Central and the East at Meningitis Now.

The year you joined the charity

I’ve been working at Meningitis Now since early 2015, where I originally started as an intern after graduating from university.

A brief overview of your role - what are you responsible for?

I look after all of our wonderful supporters across Central and East England. I also organise some of our annual events, such as the Five Valleys Walk and our carol concert. From ultra runs to head shaves; from bake sales to skydives; my job is to ensure you have all the support you need to make your fundraiser a huge success.

Your favourite part of your role

I love my job because I get to help people organise their weird and wacky fundraising events and ideas.

I love a bit of fundraising myself too, and have organised the odd bake sale and fancy dress day here in Head Office.

Your biggest achievements

In 2014, I fundraised to climb Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania (if you’re looking for a challenge, I really recommend it!).

A fun fact about yourself

I once attended a birthday party for a 113-year-old tortoise!
