Professor Johnjoe McFadden is Professor of Molecular Genetics, Department of Microbial and Cellular Sciences, University of Surrey

He obtained his PhD in biochemistry at Imperial College, London in 1982 and went on to work on human genetic diseases and then infectious diseases at the University of Surrey.

Johnjoe specialises in examining the genetics of microbes such as the agents of tuberculosis and meningitis.

His research interests include systems biology, Neisserial genetics and the pathogenicity of meningococcal meningitis.
