The year you joined the charity
A brief overview of your role - what are you responsible for?
My role is to build relationships and help all of our wonderful supporters in the North East (Northumberland all the way down to Sheffield) with their fundraising and to highlight future fundraising opportunities within in our area.
Your favourite part of your role
My favourite part of my role is meeting new people and supporting those who have experienced meningitis in one way or another, whether they themselves have suffered or they have experienced it through a loved one. I love to work with these supporters in their inspirational journey through fundraising and know that we are helping them, and others affected, spreading awareness and bringing the community together.
Your biggest achievements
My daughter suffered meningitis when she 15 months old. She was given 0% chance of survival but luckily pulled through. Tilly lost her hands and toes and continues to need further procedures to help her leg and ankles grow. Together we have been helping to develop children’s prosthetics and at the moment help a company called Open Bionics. In this journey we got to take part in a fashion show at The White House in Washington DC showcasing the bionic hands. That was a very proud moment.
A fun fact about yourself
I have two old cats, Biscuit and Polly, a dog called Buddy, a hamster called Chubby and a tank full of fish, four kids and a husband.
