Kaitlyn, who lives with her mum Kathi in Orange County, lost the use of all four limbs, as a result of bacterial meningitis and septicaemia in 2013. At 18 she spent six months in an intensive care unit and underwent more than 20 operations including skin grafts.

Despite the after-effects of the disease, Kaitlyn has regained her independence through the use of prosthetic limbs. Since contracting meningitis, Kaitlyn has documented her recovery through filming herself and on social media

Back in 2013,  US TV star John Stamos visited Kaitlyn in hospital.

Kaitlyn who has some scarring said:

“It shows you’re a warrior, don’t try to hide them. I’m getting kind of upset that they’re fading. I think they look pretty cool.”

She began to post beauty videos on YouTube in June has given tutorials including a classic red lip and flicked eyeliner look.

She says:

“I am in no way a make-up artist. It’s what I do, it’s what I love.”

Since being featured in the Daily Mail's 'femail' section this week, Kaitlyn’s videos are more popular than ever. We can’t wait to see Kaitlyn’s next look!
