Are you up for the challenge?
It’s hard, it’s long, it’s dirty and it’s going to get you hot and sweaty. It’s Tough Mudder
2016's nearly here and we’ve decided to spice things up a bit and take on one of the toughest challenges in the UK.
This challenge will test your mental stamina and physical abilities. The obstacles are first class too. So do you think you're tough enough? We spoke to one participant who proved he was…
“Although I’d completed a few mud runs, I have to admit to being apprehensive of some of the obstacles leading up to my first Tough Mudder. Particularly ‘Walk the Plank’, an obstacle that involved jumping from a 5m high platform into deep water. Not ideal for somebody who can’t swim!”
“I didn’t want to skip any obstacle (although it is an option), so as part of my training, a few friends helped by giving me swimming lessons in the weeks leading up to the event. I was determined to be ready to make the jump.”
“By the time our team got to this pretty imposing structure on the day, the adrenaline was pumping after surviving the ice dip and swinging across the monkey bars. But after climbing up and then jumping from that platform (it was all a bit of a blur to be honest), the sense of achievement was overwhelming. I was only half way round but I had achieved my goal!”
“It was at this stage I really appreciated the support of our team. But then that’s the best thing about this experience. Everyone is friendly and supportive, offering words of encouragement, and helping each other through obstacles that each of us were dreading beforehand.”
“We had a laugh all the way round the course, meeting, helping, and being helped by new friends we met on the way and I have some brilliant memories from that day.”
“The next day was a different story. A good friend of mine duped me into walking up Pen Y Fan in the Brecon Beacons as part of her training for The Three Peaks Challenge (which she clearly took on after being inspired by my manly tough guy feat...). Bearing in mind what I’d been through for Tough Mudder, this was, to say the least, a challenge! But that’s a whole different story.."
“So would I recommend Tough Mudder? Of course! In fact, I’ve already signed up for the next one.”
