What is Believe & Achieve?

Believe & Achieve is for 11-25 year-olds who have been directly or indirectly impacted by meningitis

Meningitis Now Believe & Achieve B&A - Louise

B&A can help you think about where you are in life, set and achieve goals, overcome challenges, make new friends, learn new skills, celebrate successes and ultimately, give you the confidence to believe in yourself.

We run B&A Days and socials, host weekends away and offer activities and support from a variety of professionals: life coaches, Next Step mentors, peer mentors and counsellors. Believe & Achieve isn't a one-size-fits-all service - it's very much about you and what you want.

Everyone has different experiences in life. That includes when they or the person close to them had meningitis, how it affected them and any after-effects or the changes that have happened in their life as a result. That's why the Believe & Achieve team meet with people for a chat. We chat about what they enjoy, what their hobbies and struggles are, and give them the opportunity to talk about what they want to get out of life. Once we've had this chat we discuss the activities and support available.

We offer a variety of different events and services, but it's completely up to you how much you want to get involved. Some people might access a range of things, but others might just want to access one.

Take a look at our pages and our social media. Once you've done this, get in touch and we can tell you more or arrange a time to see you for a chat.

Believe & Achieve offers many options, and like you, it can't be described in a simple sentence.

What makes Believe & Achieve different?

  • It’s easy for you to get involved with

  • If you want, we can tell you about other organisations and what they do too, for example Child Brain Injury Trust, Young Carers and NCS

"I worry every day if I'll be like this forever and wonder if it's worth struggling on. It makes me sad that most times I go out and have a nice day like I used to, I'm bed-bound from exhaustion for a day after" - Freya

"It has been a really difficult couple of years for me, my sister and my daughters living our lives at such a young age without our parents or grandparents and now we are trying to rebuild our lives" - Becca

"So many memories made and saved" - Ollie

"I just wanted to say a big thank you to Becky, Laura and other members of the Meningitis Now team, for putting together such a lost-for-words weekend away, full of laughs, raising confidence and self-esteem and fear-conquering. If I have one regret about the weekend it's that I wish I had done it sooner, but then I may have not met the beautiful group of people that made the weekend what it was. I really recommend and advise people who have had an experience with meningitis who have been coming to terms with it, to sign up to the next one of these events. You won't be disappointed, the fact we all have that one thing in common is what brings us all together as a group. Keep pushing onwards and upwards because that's what this group is all about" - Ryan
