Many people wrongly believe that a rash always appears with meningitis. This misconception is putting lives at risk and our campaign is focused on spreading the message “don’t wait for a rash”

About the rash

  • A rash will not always appear with meningitis
  • A rash is a sign of blood poisoning and it can be one of the last symptoms to be displayed
  • If and when it does appear, it could be too late
  • Meningitis and septicaemia can kill within hours

Knowing all the symptoms to look out for and acting quickly can save lives.

Campaign aims

Our campaign urges people not to wait for a rash and instead highlights the other symptoms to look out for and empowers people to trust their instincts.
